The first Turkish wine producers Yunatcilar of Bozcaada, devoted themselves to producing quality wines with their 81 years of history and experience. Despite Turks and Greeks living together for more than 500 years in Bozcaada, viniculture had been in the monopolism of Greeks due to religious causes. Hasim Bey (who will be called with surname of Yunatci afterwards) broke this tradition and started producing wine with the factory which he bought from a Greek called Panayi Dimo. The first muslim wine producer Hazim Yunatci son of Hazim Bey, brought a new trend to island by selling the wines in bottles instead of barrels. After Hazim bey, company was assigned to his son, Hasim Yunatci. Hasim Bey, did important improvements in the way of Camlibag Wines to get bigger trademark. With its quality and its outlook, he created a special islander wine. Yunatcilar has two wine shops in the center where you can buy wines by tasting all day long. The shop which is built near the factory includes a garden where you can relax and taste a wine of your choice. And you can watch the dvd which depicts the history of the island and of Yunatcilars all day long.

You can also buy the Camlibag wines from the points in Istanbul, Ankara and Bursa. The wines which Yunatcilar family had produced, selling as Camlibag Wines. The grapes which are using in making wines are growing in the more than 300 acres big vineyards which are located in the south of the island. After the grapes reached to their maturity and reaped, without losing time they are sending to process. They are using only their own grown grapes in island. Besides Kuntra and Vasilaki, they started to produce Cabernet Sauvignon like foreign grapes in their vineyards. In fact the Cabernet Sauvignon wines which they produced in 2002 were liked by many people. And Mistel Wine which is bottling after holding in barrels for 8 years are ones of the most famous wines of Camlibag. With its sweet taste it is recommended to drink before or after the dinners with fruits.

They celebrated their 80th year anniversary in 2005 August in the street where their factory was built. It was an unforgettable night with live music performances for its guests. Don’t miss these celebrations which will take place traditionally in the same time and place.
